Udaipur- The City of Lakes, also referred to as “Venice of the East” is situated in the state of Rajasthan. The spectacular city of Udaipur is famous for its series of artificial lakes and sumptuous royal residences. It has an aura of romance and splendour concocted with a royal past. The city has a splendid ambiance which would make you awe-struck and you would be entirely lost in the charm which this city has to offer. Udaipur is a city that offers a glimpse into India's regal history and natural beauty.

Udaipur is most famous for its picturesque lakes and grand palaces. Lake Pichola, an artificial lake created in 1362 AD, is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful lakes in Udaipur to visit. The Lake is fringed by astounding palaces, beautiful ghats, splendid temples and the magnificent hills of Aravali. During the boat-riding in the lake you get to experience breath-taking views especially during the sunset. The calm and peace which this lake offers to the visitors is worth experiencing. Moreover, one of the grand structures built on the lake is Jag Mandir which is also known as the “lake garden palace” and has an exquisite infrastructure.

Another spectacular artificial lake to visit in Udaipur is the Fateh Sagar Lake. It has three small islands one of which holds the famous Nehru Park known for its unique boat like restaurant and a small zoo.

Another, marvelous site to visit is Jagdish Temple which is a must visit place in order to delve into some spirituality. The main deity of this temple is lord Vishnu. It is known for its impressive structure, intricately carved pillars, and detailed sculptures.

Moving on, Sajjangarh Palace also known as the “Monsoon Palace”, offers breathtaking view of the city, its glorious lakes and the surrounding countryside.  The palace's strategic location provides spectacular sunset views and different points for photography as to capture the memories of your trip.

The Vintage Car Museum is a heaven for car-lovers. This museum in Udaipur has a captivating collection of classic cars, including Rolls-Royces, Cadillacs, and other vintage models once owned by the Maharajas of Udaipur. It offers a sneak into the lavish lifestyle of the royals of Udaipur.

One of the most famous places to visit in Udaipur is definitely The City Palace. Located on the eastern banks of Lake Pichola, it is the largest palace complex in Rajasthan. This distinct architectural piece comprises of a series of palaces built over 400 years. This complex is embellished with grand courtyards, pavilions, terraces, corridors and lush gardens which portray a perfect blend of Rajasthani and Mughal architecture. Unique attractions within the palace include the Mor Chowk, the Zenana Mahal and the Crystal Gallery showcasing an opulent collection of crystal artifacts.

Although, Udaipur is a marvelous destination to visit anytime nevertheless the best time to visit the destination is between September and March when the weather is neither too hot nor too cold, its moderate and you will enjoy your trip thoroughly. Udaipur is extremely hot during the summers that is between April to June which makes the exploration really tiring and exhausting. In a nutshell, the city of Udaipur is diverse and dynamic, filled with various architectural sites and natural beauty. Without a doubt a must visit destination with your friends, family or even alone!
